The advantages of the Cystoscopy are:

Steps to take before Cystoscopy

Before undergoing Cystoscopy, the patient is required to notify the doctor about any ongoing medical treatment or medicinal consumption, so that there is no potential side-effects or risk attached to it, during or after the procedure is completed. If you are taking blood thinners, or have a weak UTI or immune system, please inform the doctor about that. The doctor will take your urine sample before starting the procedure.

You can relieve some of the discomfort if you:

  • Drink water to flush irritants out of your bladder. Try to drink 16 ounces (473 milliliters) of water each hour for the first two hours after the procedure.

  • Take an over-the-counter pain reliever.

  • Place a warm, damp washcloth on the opening to your urethra to ease pain, repeating as needed.

  • Take a warm bath, unless your doctor asks you to avoid baths.
